With the seniors graduating soon, one senior will leave behind a lasting impression.  Senior Meg Kirchner’s active role in the JC community made everyone’s day a little brighter, even earning the senior superlative for “Most Likely to Make You Smile.”

While attending JC, Kirchner took advantage of participating in many clubs and societies offered to students.  She was a varsity badminton player, set crew chief, NHS Member at Large, member of NAHS, Quill and Scroll, NFHS member, FCA participant, Romero club member, Patriot staffer, Film Club Vice President, chorus member, Chemathon member, and Book Club member at JC.  Outside of JC, she is known as an avid baker.

Kirchner is headed off to Penn State, University Park Campus, in the College of Agricultural Sciences.  She plans to be a Food Science major because she loves science and food, so combining them seemed like the right way to go. “I’m only about three hours away from home, but honestly, I wouldn’t mind being farther.  College is a time to gain your independence and learn what it’s like without your parents badgering you,” Kirchner said.

Kirchner is excited to be starting college life, but she also is nervous about being around so many different people unknown to her.  “I know I’ll be fine and make great friends. but going to a new place and meeting new people can be a little bit scary!  I try to think of it as extended summer camp,” Kirchner said.

Kirchner plans on joining a badminton club at her college to continue with her favorite sport from JC.  She hopes to take an active role in the school’s community by joining a lot of clubs.

“I’ll miss all my friends at JC.  It really is the people that make the school good or bad, and all my friends and teachers made it good so I’ll definitely miss them and all the crazy shenanigans we get into,” Kirchner said.
