“The Patriot” was awarded a Silver Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association in its annual Crown Award Contest. The Association, affiliated with the Journalism School at Columbia University, judged 1,558 school magazines, newspapers, yearbooks, and online publications. Out of the entries, 44 Gold Crowns were awarded and 110 Silver Crowns were awarded.

“The Patriot” is also a finalist for the annual Online Pacemaker Award from the National Scholastic Press Association. 132 online high-school publications entered the contest. “The Patriot” is among 25 other finalists, divided into two categories based on each school’s enrollment. The 2010 Online Pacemakers will be announced on April 17.
