The Student Affairs Council will host its own “graveyard smash” on Friday, Oct. 22.
The Halloween Costume Bash will be held in the cafeteria from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m, and the SAC encourages students to wear their best Halloween costumes to the event.
“I’m excited so my friends and I can be Powderpuff Girls,” junior Kelley McGill said.
The senior SAC class officers, Elisabeth Johnson, Andrew Russell, and Tyler Boyd will judge the costumes, awarding cash prizes to the attendees with the best costumes.
For the 2009 Halloween dance, the SAC awarded four $50 gift cards to the best-dressed attendees.
Tickets for the event are $10 at the door, but $5 if purchased in the book store during the school day. The dance proceeds will help fund the senior prom and after-prom activities for the senior class.
“I’m hoping for a good turnout so that we can make a good profit. We need about 100 guests to break even, so if we get 200 then we would be in great shape. The more money we make now, the less prom tickets will cost later,” senior class president Tyler Boyd said.
“The Halloween Dance is a great way to raise funds,” freshman Brianna George said.
Additionally, the SAC encourages students to bring outside guests to the event.
“With outside guests, more people would want to come, which would make for a better time,” senior class vice president Andrew Russell said.
Russell expects the turn out to be “nothing like Homecoming, but a decent amount of people.”
“I know everyone had a blast last year,” Boyd said.
