Despite the passing of religion teacher Jackie Moeser, senior schedules still list Moeser as a teacher for Christian Life Choices.
For the first semester of the 2010-2011 school year, previous JC guidance counselor Bernie Mullin and Julian Maliszewski, class of ’06, took over for Moeser’s junior Church History classes and her advisory. Both worked part time.
For the second semester, Bernie Mullin and a former JC teacher will teach the classes which list Moeser as the teacher.
According to campus minister Patti Murphy-Dohn, the new teacher is Richard (Dick) Gatto. Gatto taught religion at JC until 1981, when Murphy-Dohn took over for him.
According to Murphy-Dohn, Gatto later became principal at St. Claire’s School. He was also the Faith Formation Director at St. Margaret’s Church, and he is a musician sometimes involved in the music at Mass.
“He is very friendly and has a great sense of humor. I think the seniors will really like him,” Murphy-Dohn said.
“I am very excited that I can help,” Mullin said.
The two teachers will split Moeser’s five sections up. Mullin will teach three sections for the seniors, and Gatto will teach two sections.
They both will also split up the time with Moser’s advisory. Mullin will handle advisory for three days of the week, while Gatto will handle two days.
