Women’s Athletic Director Stephanie Maychack, social studies teacher Richard Wojewodzki, and Library Media Specialist and senior class moderator Anne Baker are leaving for the upcoming 2011-2012 year.
“I had Mr.Wojo for three years [as a teacher]. He is a super genius, has a great sense of humor, and is not afraid to try new things,” junior Adam Kuester said. “He expects the best out of everyone, and makes us all want to do better.”
Wojewodzki’s future plans after he leaves JC are not to teach at another school, but rather to start a new business. “It’s [the new business] a consulting firm called GrowConnected. It provides mentoring and professional growth workshops for teachers and administrators to help them get the most out of digital technology,” Wojewodzki said.
Besides Wojewodzki, JC will also be losing Maychack. Maychack also taught Computer Science and gym. On the side, she was the women’s JV soccer coach and women’s JV lacrosse coach. She also restarted the Student Athletic Leadership.
According to junior Talia Kahoe, one of Maychack’s former players, she will be missed on the soccer field. “Maychack was my JV soccer coach freshmen and sophomore year, and her knowledge and love of the game made our team as successful we were. She was one of the best coaches I’ve had because of the way she pushed each and every one of us. She drilled into our heads exactly what our job was, and made sure we executed the way she knew it was meant to be done,” Kahoe said.
According to Kahoe, she also taught her how to become an important leader to the team. “Those two years, I excelled as a soccer player as well as a strong leader because of her help,” Kahoe said.
Maychack still plans to stay in the teaching field when she leaves JC. “I have applied to the MBA program at University of Maryland,” Maychack said. “I’m looking into a graduate student position there.”
Maychack’s favorite memory was coaching the teams that she has had. “I’ve had some really good teams, fun girls, and some great seasons,” Maychack said.
Another teacher that is leaving at the end of the year is Baker. She has been the JC librarian for four years as well as the moderator of the Book Club. “Several members of the staff are trying to retain me. You guys are here for four years, and that’s how long I’ve been here. I’d like to try new things,” Baker said.
After leaving, she will take a seasonal job as a gardener, and would also love to do something in preservation work. One of her favorite memories at JC was Book Club. “I love the students, and I love book club. I love my coworkers. Everyone here is great,” Baker said.
