The news spread like wildfire throughout the class of 2012 via text messages, but almost no seniors would actually participate in the supposed “Senior Skip Day” on Nov 11.
According to Attendance Moderator Molly Tebin, the total number of seniors who had absences that were not excused was three.
“It’s [“Senior Skip Day”] certainly not allowed so they’ll [students participating in “Senior Skip Day”] follow the same procedures as any absentee. If it’s excused, their parents have to call in and tell us why they’re out,” Principal Ball said.
According to Dean of Students Thomas Vierheller students participating in “Senior Skip Day” face a consequence of two demerits.
“It [Senior Skip Day] wasn’t planned out. Why was it at the beginning of this year?” senior Emily Kegan said.
“I think it’s [Senior Skip Day] a little childish but I know it’s all in good fun. I myself wouldn’t participate,” senior Eric Ishak said.
