Say hello to the new after-prom.
Dave and Buster’s has replaced Port Discovery as the location of the senior class after-prom. According to Patriot Parent Association Co-Chair Donna Hetzel, after surveying the class of 2011, the results were that “Port Discovery was convenient to the prom location, [but] there was not enough to engage the students all night.”
“Mrs. Maher, mother of senior Michael Maher and after-prom chairperson, and I had gone down to take a tour of Dave and Buster’s and were quite impressed with what they had to offer our seniors and guests. There are numerous games and activities as well as bowling lanes for the students,” Hetzel said.
The Basket Bingo Night on Nov. 11 raised over $3,800 to cover the senior class’s after-prom expenses, according to Hetzel.
The cost of the buses to transport the students to prom and after prom is around an estimated $4,000. The exact and total expense of prom cannot be calculated until the number of students attending is determined.
“I am excited because I know other schools have had their after-prom event there [at Dave and Buster’s] and I’ve heard people say that it is a lot of fun,” senior Elisa Rehak said.
“Although both places are good options, I believe that the new place will be more appropriate for kids our age,” senior Ben Pickett said.
