On Thursday, May 3, three Patriot staffers received awards from the Youth Journalism International organization.
Opinion Editor Scott Novak won first place in the General Columns category for his column “Pro-Choice’s time to scream.”
Copy Editor Kailey Tracy won an honorable mention in the Sports News category for “Men’s volleyball remains optimistic.”
Online Chief Grace Kim won two awards. The first was an honorable mention in the Theater Reviews category for “New Sherlock Holmes film kicks it up a notch.” The second was in the category of General Reviews for “Bertucci’s serves mediocre pasta.”
Youth Journalism International is an organization that works with journalism students throughout the world in middle school, high school, and college and sponsors this contest annually.
