Abortion protesters arrived at JC on the morning of Jan. 11 with graphic images of aborted fetuses. The anti-abortion company, The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, first sent protesters to JC on Sept. 2, 2011. This time, at least three men appeared on both sides of E. Churchville Road beside the entrance of JC and in the median.
According to Vice Principal for Academics Gary Scholl, JC called the Bel Air police because the situation was unsafe.
“We worry about teenage drivers being distracted by these horrible posters,” Principal Madelyn Ball said.
According to Scholl, the police removed the protester from the median, as it was dangerous. However, they could not interfere with the men on the sidewalks, which are public property.
“The best thing, I think, is just to ignore them,” Scholl said.
The protesters left by 8:15. Scholl and Ball said that they left by themselves once the influx of traffic and viewers were gone.
