Homecoming Preview: Changes ahead for JC Spirit Week 2019
September 29, 2019
Homecoming week is quickly approaching, and students are already preparing for the exciting week ahead.
The week will begin on Monday, October 7 with the first day of Spirit Week where students dress to the daily themes. Students had the chance to vote on these themes.
Winning dress day themes included Hawaiian Day and Character Day.
Spirit Week will end with a pep rally and the Powderpuff game.
One of the most exciting things about Spirit Week is the pep rally. This year, there was some discussion to move the pep rally to the evening before the football game. The thought was that that alumni would be able to attend the pep rally if they would want, and students who did not want to attend would not have to. However, the final decision was made to keep the pep rally during the school day.
The Homecoming Game will take place at 7:00 pm when JC football faces off against Loyola.
“We have the potential to win this game as we do all of them if we prepare well during practices and play with 110 percent effort,” said senior captain Braden Clark.
“I am very excited for the game and ready to put on a show for the alumni. Hopefully, we start the weekend off right with a win,” said junior captain Roman Hemby. The players are not the only ones who are enthusiastic about the game.
“I have never been to a Homecoming Game before, and with it being my senior year and how good the team is looking, I am very excited,” said senior Kiana Miller.
The final event of the Homecoming Week is the Homecoming Dance. The dance will take place in the Upper Gym and will be the highlight of the week for many students attending.
The theme for this year’s dance is Starry Night.
“Homecoming is always a good time. I love getting to see all of my friends dressed up and going to the dance together. Also the weather is always perfect because it is the start of fall, my favorite season,” senior Miranda Dillon said.
Homecoming Week is a great way to show school spirit by dressing up and attending games.
It is also a great way to get out into the JC community and see what Homecoming at JC is all about.
