Over the past few months, Director of Facilities Joe McGrain and his team have had several facilities meetings to determine what needs to be updated or fixed throughout the John Carroll campus.
Mr. McGrain and his team have completed their four-year plan to replace all of the original 1964 windows along the counseling halls as well as the staff and faculty lounge, allowing the space to brighten up and be much more energy efficient.
Another renovation that has been completed is the ceilings, walls, and new carpet in the administration office at the front of the school.
Mr. McGrain said, “We only get one chance to make a great first impression welcoming guests and families.”
The facilities team has completed several other projects that included some necessary flooring and casework in one of the rooms of the science department.
Furthermore, the team has recoated the auditorium stage floor, made sound improvements in the band room, and completed other repairs that were needed on the track and field.
On top of that, Mr. McGrain said that there has been cleaning and brick staining done to the exterior patio wall which faces route 22. “Again, because we only get one chance to make a good first impression.”
The facilities team is very excited to announce that they have made some “beautiful yet subtle enhancements” to the chapel. Air conditioning was added to the space, which is new to the original building.
Mr. McGrain said, “With these enhancements, I believe, it will allow for a more focused experience during Mass, prayer, and even individual contemplation and devotions.”
Overall, the team was able to focus on many maintenance projects and work orders. The team has only heard positive feedback about the renovations.
