Tucson, Arizona – 743 pounds of marijuana hidden among human waste in a septic tank truck were confiscated by Arizona police. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $409,000. The truck was pulled over by police because a check of the vehicle’s license showed it was expired. The vehicle was searched after it was discovered that the truck’s commercial vehicle markings were also invalid. The Arizona interstate where the truck was pulled over leads directly into Mexico, making it a hotspot for the transfer of illicit drugs.

New York, New York – New York City cab drivers are now banned from using any electronic devices while driving. The ban includes the use of cell phones, GPS devices, Bluetooth headsets, and headphones. The ban only applies while cabs are in motion, so cabbies can use electronic devices while pulled over and waiting for customers. The first offense carries a $200 fine, while the third can result in the loss of a driver’s taxi license.

Davos, Switzerland – Microsoft founder Bill Gates said he and his wife will donate $10 billion over the next 10 years to aid in distributing vaccines across the world. Gates said his vision is to have 90% of children in developing countries immunized. He estimates that in the next decade, the lives of 7.6 million children will be saved because of the effort. The World Health Organization said the move was “unprecedented.”
