When I first heard that the Quran had been burned in Florida, the first thing that I wanted to know was how did an idea as brilliant as this one come to be?
After a few moments of thought, I think I figured it out. The man behind the extravaganza, Pastor Terry Jones, was banging his head against the wall when he lifted his head to his loyal followers and said, “I got an idea…Let’s burn us some books!”
For those of you who don’t know what I am talking about, Terry Jones, a pastor in a church in Florida, had originally scheduled a “National Quran Burning” day on September 11th. The Quran is the Muslim’s sacred book, which is a significant aspect of their religion. Thankfully the pastor did not go through with the idea. However, Terry Jones had said that he may have been planning to reschedule the book burning.
Why does anyone think that this is a good idea? Don’t get me wrong, I am all for freedom of speech, and I feel that it is the most important right a human being can possess. However, this is going way too far. I clearly recall a German dictator who started out with the idea of burning books. His name was Adolf Hitler. I wonder if Jones was inspired by Hitler’s ideas.
If you wonder why so many other countries hate the United States, this is the exact reason. It is because of ignorant idiots like Jones. So, I’ve decided to ask Mr. Jones and his followers two important questions.
First question: Where in the world do you get the guts to think that your religion is so infallible that you can destroy something that is sacred to another religion? In fact, not only are you destroying it, but you are also encouraging others to do so as well. You have absolutely no right to do something like that.
Second Question: In many of his interviews, Terry Jones states that the Islamic religion is the religion of the devil because they hate and destroy other religions. Think about what you are doing! You’re doing exactly what you are criticizing their religion for.
My God, since when did religious philosophy become an argument between second graders? The real question is: Why are you allowed to do what you condemn others for doing?
If you are offended by this or if you are Pastor Jones, then I await your angry emails. In fact, I can’t wait to hear the pro-book burner side of the story.
I hope to be surprised.
If anybody tells me that God would want us to burn the Quran because the Islamic religion is causing the problems of the world, I will have to say that that doesn’t make sense. I just got done talking to God, and he told me that problems are caused by people like Terry Jones.
