The following is a letter from English teacher Susan Fisher regarding the class of 2011’s March 10-11 retreat to Willow Valley Resort in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Dear Patriot Editor,
I am back from Senior Retreat feeling rested and rewarded. What a pleasant 24 hours we spent with students who were as mature as any group we have ever taken to Willow Valley Resort– and more polite than any audience I can remember. Although students sat for many hours listening and sharing ideas in small groups, there was 100 percent cooperation, respectful silence for our many speakers, and an open-minded acceptance toward all. When our talented singers and musicians provided musical interludes, their classmates applauded with enthusiasm. Any number of students thanked the teachers for being there, and I’m sure Mrs. Murphy-Dohn was greatly appreciated for her extraordinary work in making this retreat happen.
We promised each other confidentiality, but I have to say that being confidential about the great behavior of the class of 2011 would be doing everyone a disservice. Thank you, seniors, and best wishes in the months remaining at The John Carroll School.
Mrs. Susan Fisher
