Patriot Perspective: Delicious new cafeteria food puts smiles on students’ faces

It’s no secret that the frozen yogurt machine is one of the coolest things to be introduced to the cafeteria. With an abundance of toppings, students rave about this new addition. However, there’s much more to be served by the new cafeteria catering service, Fame.

With upgrades and additions to the menu, Fame has revitalized our cafeteria food, leaving us satisfied every day.

Instead of unnaturally round patties of chicken on bread, the new chicken sandwiches look, and taste, like real meat.

Along with frozen yogurt, students have many options for desserts, such as many kinds of exciting new cookies like the triple chocolate and strawberry short cake cookies, and other frozen desserts. Feel free to load your frozen yogurt up with sprinkles, too, because unlike at Sweet Frog, the cashier does not weigh your purchase.

The new cafeteria service also offers a greater variety for veggie lovers by expanding the salad bar with more options such as different greens and salad dressings. The new veggie burger option adds variety to their meat menu.

Even though Fame brought many adjustments to the menu, they still managed to keep the staples of the menu. Snapple Ice Tea is still consistently in the refrigerators. Pizza and fries are still served every day.

Not only did the menu get upgraded, the entire cafeteria did. Adding the murals to the walls brightens the cafeteria. Instead of being forced to stare at the same white walls every day, students have nice pictures. The placement of the condiment station is also more convenient, since it is now in a central location where more people can access it.

Extending the after school hours also brings in more revenue and allows students to get a snack before practice or a game. Instead of vending machine chips and cookies, students have the option of eating a meal that is more nutritious and filling.

Despite the high praise for Fame, the buffalo chicken wraps are missed greatly. Those were the highlight of every Friday, and now they are nowhere to be found.

The hot lunch options could also be hotter with a better range of options such as ravioli or teriyaki chicken. Instead of surprising students every day with the menu, posting it online would also be helpful for students trying to decide when to buy or bring a lunch.

Overall, students are leaving the cafeteria with their needs, hunger and all, satisfied.
