TRADITIONS: WE LIKE THAT John Carroll has so many wonderful traditions that we get to experience every year through many different events. Things such as Homecoming, Sophomore Pinning, and Ring are all great events where we all come together to celebrate school traditions. It also brings together students for great big gatherings where we can socialize and have fun with others.
FIELD TRIPS: WE LIKE HOW students are able to take field trips, enabling them to learn many different topics outside of the classroom and in a new environment. It’s also a great way to get students to have a hands-on approach with things and take an interest instead of listening to another lecture about the topic. The entire senior class went on their yearly trip to Washington, D.C. earlier this month while the juniors will be taking their full-class trip in about a month.
BLING BLITZ COMPETITION: WE LIKE HOW during the week one of our school’s biggest tradition, the junior class added a new tradition of their own, the Bling Blitz competition. On Tuesday morning of Ring Week, the juniors and their teachers received beaded necklaces. Juniors were tasked with collecting as many necklaces as possible by winning a Rock/Paper/Scissors game; the two people with the most necklaces faced off during junior-senior lunch on Wednesday. The winner got a free Ring Dance ticket. This new competition was a great addition to an already exciting week at school.
DRESS DOWN DAYS: WE LIKE HOW students were allowed to dress up on March 15 to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Even though the holiday fell on a weekend this year, students wore their best green accessories on the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day. Students were permitted to wear green shirts under their uniforms and green accessories such as ties, socks, earrings, and headbands. It is nice when Patriots are able to celebrate holidays in school with days like this.
