The juniors upset the seniors with a 6-0 victory during the Powder Puff Game on October 13. The only points came during an interception returned for a touchdown by junior Melissa Cox.
Controversy arose when Cox emerged in the endzone without a flag.
“It’s easier to two-hand-touch someone than to pull their flags,” said English teacher Matthew Blair, who was a referee during the game.
The game, however, runs deeper than the score of the game or who won it. “The game is about tradition. It’s about girls gathering for an experience that is twice in a lifetime. They should be proud of themselves. They should be proud of each other. They should be proud of holding tradition. They should be proud of their school,” said Assistant Dean of Students and junior Powder Puff coach Sean Ireton.
