It’s December 27th, two days after Christmas. Most JC students are sitting around in their pajamas and playing with their new presents, but not the indoor track team. They are out sweating and burning off all of those extra calories gained during the Christmas holiday by running in the Mountain Express Meet in Hagerstown, Maryland.
For some team members, it was a burden to have a race only two days after Christmas. For others, it was a worthwhile trip. Junior, T’Keyah Lisbon came in 5th overall in the 55m hurdles.
Other runners who finished well were seniors, Shaun Ostrowski and Brian Hunt. They tied for 24th out of 52 in the 55m dash. Both tied with a time of 7.3 seconds.
The race was on the verge of being cancelled due to the snow and heavy winds the night before. However, the next morning the skies cleared up and the winds stopped, so it was decided that the race must go on. The runners all gathered in the mini-bus at JC and drove to Mountain Express High School in Hagerstown.
According to Coach Rob Torres, JC does not know for sure how they did in the meet overall, but Torres thinks they got 6th or 7th place out of the 12 teams that were there.
