While most sporting events only last a few hours, the equestrian team spends an entire weekend working hard with their team. Last week the equestrian team competed in their Regional competition to determine who would qualify for Zones.
Senior Heather Scampton won her fences class, junior Erika D’Anna placed 3rd in her fences class, and freshmen Carlie Hopkins placed third in her saddle class. These riders will be advancing to Zone finals for the individual competition.
In addition to those riders, senior Kelsey Lebuhn received sixth place over fences, junior Bridget Rodriguez placed sixth in the under saddle class, and freshmen Grayce Moran came in fifth in her under saddle class.
The Zones competition will be held at Garrison Forrest on Feb. 25 andFeb. 26. The over fences classes both individual and teams will be held on Saturday. All flat classes will be held on Sunday. The top two riders in each individual class and the top two teams will advance to National competition.
