Week in Sports: Week of Oct. 30
Football
On Saturday, Nov. 4, the varsity and JV football teams faced Curley in their last regular season games. The varsity game was close, but Curley pulled ahead in the last quarter with a game-winning touchdown making the final score of 23-22. The majority of Curley’s yardage was gained via penalties. JV played on Thursday, Nov. 2. Their defense fought hard the whole game and pulled through with a 22-8 victory.
Cross Country
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, the men’s varsity and JV cross country teams finished the season strong, winning the MIAA B Conference championships. “I felt relieved because we worked hard for two or three months and now I don’t have to stress about winning anymore because we are champions,” junior Jack Stannard said. Both teams finished 7-0 and ended a 28-year dry spell, taking their first titles since 1989.
Women’s Soccer
On Monday, Oct. 30, the women’s JV soccer team lost 5-0 to St. Paul’s School for Girls. On Tuesday, Oct. 31, varsity was defeated by Mercy 4-0 in the IAAM quarterfinals.
Field Hockey
On Monday, Oct. 30, the field hockey team lost 2-1 to Mount de Sales in the IAAM quarterfinals. The loss ended the team’s season, and their hopes to win a fourth consecutive B Conference championship.
