Ravens Commentary: QB Jackson deserves MVP

Lamar Jackson was the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft. He was overlooked by all 32 teams. He won the Heisman trophy at the University of Louisville in 2016, and he is now the most dynamic player in the NFL. Jackson has turned his game around, and he should be a candidate for the NFL’s Most Valuable Player.

After a rough AFC Wildcard game versus the Chargers in 2018,  many people ask how. How did Lamar Jackson go from being doubted to being in the MVP race?

In Jackson’s case, just working hard and dedicating himself all off-season is the reason why he is where he is today. He is such a humble player, and all he wants to do is win. Throughout the season, he has become a fan favorite in Baltimore and around the entire league.

Through his flashy plays and entertaining character, Jackson has been making his mark on the league as an MVP candidate should.

With a current 11-2 record, the Ravens are looking to win the AFC North division for the second year in a row and, hopefully, follow with a Super Bowl victory. Often times when Jackson is interviewed after games, reporters ask him if he is he satisfied with his performance? He always responds saying that it’s not about him, and that his ultimate goal is to win a Super Bowl.

As of presstime, Jackson is 19-4 as a starting quarterback in the NFL, something a quarterback has never done before. In 2018, through six games, Jackson finished the season with 1,201 passing yards and six touchdowns in seven games. This year, Jackson has 2,677 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns, not to mention 1017 rushing yards. In fact, this year, Jackson is leading the NFL in quarterback rating at 81.9.

Not only has he proven everyone wrong this year, but he has also beaten some of the best teams in the NFL. He has both defeated and blown out the Seahawks, Patriots, Texans, Rams, 49ers, and the Bills, teams who nobody expected the Ravens to beat.

Jackson is less than 30 yards away from breaking the single season rushing record by a quarterback.

Lamar Jackson is by far the best candidate for MVP this year. The film is the proof. His stats and what he has done for the Baltimore Ravens speak for itself.
