Commentary: Loss of sports is tough
November 13, 2020
Sports were just starting to begin: football, tennis, soccer, volleyball, cross country, and more.
However, due to the increase in COVID-19 cases, the John Carroll administration made the tough decision to cancel fall sports and discontinue in-person-learning for the sake of everyone’s safety and health.
When I got the email confirming the news, I was a little angry, and I was sad. Even though I am upset, I am proud that I am a part of a community that has done the best job possible, given the circumstances, to provide us with sports, activities, and in-person-learning.
I wish that I could continue playing volleyball and continue the in-person-learning, but John Carroll’s goal is to keep everybody healthy during this time.
I know how hard it is to be in this situation. Sports are a big part of my life, too. I am on the JV volleyball team. We got three games and some practices in before school and sports were canceled. I do think that it was a great (and short) season that we had.
I hope every JC Patriot stays safe and healthy!
