Senior JoJo Aidoo first started playing football at the age of five and has continued his football journey. Fast forward to now: JoJo has been playing the sport he has had a passion for and has loved for 12 years.
He said the biggest challenges he’s had to face in football was “staying committed and still being the best I can and becoming a better player every year.”
In addition, he commented that another challenge he’s faced was “losing love for the sport from coaches and different situations in football and having to gain it all back. The recruiting process is a huge challenge and is a tough yet challenging time that I am still going through.”
JoJo explained that he must “keep his mind in check and know who he is outside of his sport” to overcome the obstacles that come his way.
He stays motivated by remembering that same dream he has now as he did as a kid. “As a kid I had dreams to play in the NFL, and I don’t want to fail or give up on my dream. That is what keeps me going, and my family motivates me.”
His greatest inspiration is his mother. “She teaches me to be humble and to know my path and not compare myself to other people and just have fun.”
What has helped him excel in football has been working with the “right trainers” and having his mom push him to be great and not settle.
God, hard work, and having the right people to support JoJo in his life have contributed and have pushed him to success.
Playing football has taught JoJo that it’s “not just about yourself, but it’s about the team and the family that has been made.” He considers his teammates not only his brothers but his family.
The biggest advice he can give to other athletes is to “be consistent in your craft; never settle for the bare minimum. Always work even when you don’t get any recognition or praise because the time will come when it your time to show out.”
He plans to play D1 football and hopes to make it to the NFL.
“I will see where God takes me.”
