The Homecoming football game is one of the biggest events here at John Carroll. The theme for their game was Black and Gold against Bullis.
However, a week before they played this game, they played St. Mary’s with whom they have always struggled when they have played them. This time though, they won. It was a tie game going into overtime, and St. Mary’s had the ball. They threw the ball long, and junior Ryan Kruk intercepted the ball, and JC went down the other way to score a touchdown and put them up to win the game.
This was a great win for them and helped them go forward into the Homecoming Game where they beat undefeated Bullis High School.
With this comes the student section. During the Homecoming Game against Bullis, everyone showed up in their black and gold to cheer on the team.
Not only was the football game fun to end Homecoming Week, but so were all of the spirit days and dressing up. My favorite day we dressed up was Age Day. I loved seeing all the different grades dress up and really embrace their school spirit. The seniors were so funny, dressed up as elderly individuals; their outfits were so good.
I loved the week of Homecoming, but I thought the dance this year was exceptional. I had such a fun time, and the DJ was amazing. It was the perfect weather to be outside dancing and singing with all your friends, having a good time under the stars.
Homecoming is one of the best weeks because of everything leading up to it. It is a busy week filled with lots of fun activities where the entire school is involved. Everyone is included, and it isn’t just about one person or team.
The SGA and others put so much work and thought into this week, and it doesn’t’ go unnoticed. They take a lot of time and energy out of their schedules to put this all together and make it happen for us.
