Sophomore Pieper McCue started playing sports at a young age beginning with soccer before kindergarten and then later adding lacrosse and basketball.
“My biggest influences and supporters are probably my parents and grandparents because they always come to all my games to cheer me on,” explained Pieper.
Pieper started playing these sports because both her parents and brothers are athletes. Growing up, she was always around sports, and when she started playing, she really enjoyed them.
“Looking back, I would tell my younger self that I am proud of her,” Pieper said.
Regarding playing three varsity sports and balancing everything, she said, “I manage my time by taking priority over the sport that is in season and going to that game or practice before any of my other sports.”
Although Pieper plays three sports, she is mainly focused on lacrosse. She said, “I want to play lacrosse in college because I enjoy it the most and feel that I am the strongest in that sport.”
Regarding her experience as a freshman surrounded by upperclassman for all three sports, she said “It can be hard to fit in being the youngest on the team, but now that I’ve played with all of them and have gotten to know the girls, it’s like there is no age gap at all.”
Having only one season for basketball and lacrosse under her belt hasn’t stopped Pieper from obtaining basketball IAAM player of the week, and IAAM All-Conference for lacrosse.
Pieper said, “I had always wanted to make varsity freshman year and make All-Conference, so when both of those things happened, I was very excited.”
