Oriole Pride was strong in the building as a celebration was hosted for the team’s advantage in the playoffs as well as clenching the American League East Division title. It was also the first time in several years that the Orioles made it to the playoffs.
On Friday, October 6, the SGA and JC administration hosted exciting activities to celebrate their victories.
Junior Nelia Kelleher said, “It was incredibly nice that the school threw an event to celebrate the Orioles. I had a great time with my friends.”
During lunch, the SGA provided free soft pretzels and popcorn to all students. They also set up a photo booth for students to take pictures with their friends while wearing Orioles shirts.
The cafeteria workers created a baseball-themed lunch, consisting of nachos, hot dogs, fries, and mac and cheese.
There was also a throw competition where students could throw a baseball to see how fast their pitches were.
Another fun aspect of the day was all the Orioles pride displayed through clothing and accessories.
While the regular uniform bottoms were still required, fun shirts and other additions like hats and orange socks were allowed.
The Patriot showed his love for the Orioles as well and showed up sporting an O’s t-shirt and posing for pictures.
While the Orioles were eliminated from the playoffs in their first three games against the Texas Rangers, the 101-win season is something to be celebrated.
