Senior Eddie Smith was key player on the boys varsity soccer team.
Eddie has not only won All-MIAA, All-State First Team, USC All-Region First Team, and USC All-American First Team, which is a nationwide honor, but he has also been named the “Player of the Year” by The Aegis.
Eddie found out about this award through Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach James Fendryk. He then had an interview with a staff member of The Aegis.
Winning the Player of the Year award is a big deal. Eddie said, “It is a dream come true to be able to be recognized for all the hard work and dedication I put into my high school career. I am very appreciative for the past four years and couldn’t be prouder of what I have accomplished with my team.”
Mr. Fendryk said, “We are all very proud of Eddie for his selection as The Aegis 2023 Men’s Soccer Player of the Year, a fantastic culmination to a highly-decorated high school career. I’m very happy for Eddie as this honor is something he truly deserves.”
To earn this award, “I worked hard and just played with 100% effort every practice and every game. My family and coaches got me to this point. I also give all glory to God,” he said.
After high school graduation, Eddie is going to attend Loyola University of Maryland to study business. He also plans to continue his soccer career there as well.
