Junior Trey Patrick is headed into his third year on the JC varsity golf team and has been playing competitively outside school as well for four years. As of right now, however, he is only playing for JC.
His goal going into this season is to lower the score he gets for each round that he plays, and he will put in the work to ensure that this goal will be reached.
Trey and his team practice five days a week during the golf season. Over the summer and during the fall, he tends to play a round of golf every week to stay in good shape to prepare himself for the season.
Putting in the work especially outside of the season will make all the difference in how he performs by preparing himself for all situations.
Trey said, “A typical practice for me normally consists of hitting each club to warm up and then working on something that may have gone bad during the last round or practice.”
When having a bad day of golf after a tough loss, he does not dwell on it and let it bring him down, but instead, he carries his head high and moves onto the next match, leaving the loss in the past to focus on what is still ahead of him.
In golf-related scenarios, he looks up to his dad the most. “He’s taught me almost everything about how to play, and I am glad he could give me that knowledge.”
He is a great role model for him, and has positively impacted the way he plays his game with his can-do attitude towards it.
Playing golf has taught him that “if you mess up you have to forget about it and move on to the next shot.”
When he is not on the green he enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his friends and family.
Trey is unsure of where he would like to attend college and may possibly pursue his golf career. As of right now, he just likes to play for fun.
