JC women’s swimming put the Roland Park Reds in the red during their meet on Wednesday at the Bel Air Athletic Club. The Patriots beat the Reds 118 points to 50, making their record 6-1 overall.
The girls were very excited after their win, especially because this was their second consecutive win this week. Both the men’s and women’s teams defeated North Harford High School on Monday. “Everyone was excited because we won a meet on Monday, and to win another on Wednesday was great,” senior Elaina Kohles said.
Freshman Emily Patrick agrees with Kohles. “I think it [the meet] went really well because we won every race,” she said.
Kohles came in first in all four of the events she participated in, making her the team’s top scorer. She swam the 200 yard medley relay, the 200 yard Individual Medley, the 500 yard freestyle, and the 400 yard free relay.
The Patriots placed first in all of their events except the 100 yard Backstroke. Roland Park finished first in the race and JC finished second and third.
The Patriots had some concerns about participating in the meet, “Some of the girls were nervous because Roland Park has been pretty good in past year, but we beat them because everybody just did really well and swam their best,” Kohles said.
Both the women and men have a meet against Severn on Monday.
