JC keeps seniors in the loop for future events

On Friday the 24th, JC sent an email to all seniors and their parents in order to update them on future events amidst the MD state closure lasting until mid May.

As of right now, graduation is still planning on taking place on May 22nd; however, the time is yet to be determined.

If the closure extends further, JC would then move into plan B, where graduation would be held on Saturday, June 20th.

As a last resort, graduation would be held virtually in July.

However, some students didn’t love the idea of a virtual graduation. “I think it’ll be great if we get an in-person graduation,” senior Brooke Smith said. “But I think it’ll be really disappointing having to wait for it and if it’s in a new location.”

“I think that JC is great for trying to have a graduation no matter what,” senior Chuck Hafer said. “However, if it’s not the real thing, then I really don’t even want to do it.”

Other topics such as prom were addressed in the email as well. As of right now, the senior prom will take place one weekend before the graduation date chosen if MD state regulation allows it. Along with this, Senior Retreat will take place virtually on May 14th. The event will still have performances, speakers, special guests and more.

Pending any further announcements by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, the Senior Awards will still take place on May 19th, and Baccalaureate will take place as planned on May 20th.

Last week various staff members and administrators made in-person home deliveries to each senior’s home in order to drop off yearbooks, graduation gowns, and senior banners.
