Class of 2022 celebrates prom at aquarium
A JC senior class enjoys first prom since 2019 following pandemic
June 5, 2022
For the first time since 2019, JC’s class of 2022 was able to attend a normal prom without restrictions.
Last year, the Class of 2022 was unable to have a Junior Ring Dance due to continuing COVID-19 restrictions. However, they were able to have a Senior Prom this year.
The prom was at the Baltimore Aquarium at the Inner Harbor on Saturday, April 30. Following the prom, all JC seniors and their guests went to the Arena Club in Bel Air in order to participate in a range of After-Prom activities.
Seniors began their evening at the Arena Club to check-in before boarding buses to head to the aquarium. The prom itself lasted until 11 pm, and then students went back to the Arena Club for their after-prom party.
Some of the activities available at the after-prom party included trampolines, photo opportunities, raffles, poker and blackjack, and other carnival type games.
At the prom itself, students were able to request songs from a DJ and, in between dancing, the jellyfish and dolphin exhibits were available for students to view.
Senior Gabe Huffman shared that his favorite moments of the event were “either taking pictures at the aquarium or failing at doing the activities at the Arena Club.”
With this event being the first major class dance for the seniors, many students could make memories and share time with their classmates.
Gabe added that he “was extremely thankful to be able to have a normal prom because I made memories that I’ll get to share for years to come.”
Senior Elizabeth Haney said that “it felt so freeing to be able to do this with my classmates, especially since we didn’t get the chance to have a ring dance.”
Senior Gabby Spencer revealed that her favorite moment was “getting the group of friends I was with to have dance battles with each other.”
When seniors and their guests first arrived at the aquarium, they were able to move through the building to see the various exhibits.
