The senior uniform turned green on Wednesday, September 20 as the Class of 2024 arrived for their unity day.
Emily O’Steen said Senior Unity Day was fun and lived up to her expectations. “Participating in Senior Unity Day feels like a rite of passage and has been something I’ve been looking forward to for several years.”
Tatiana Wilkins commented, “Senior Unity Day is almost like a closing way to get to know my whole class one last time. It’s sentimental and special.”
When students checked in for the day, they were divided into groups which were identified by the color of a bandanna. The groups participated in a Goose Chase in which they were asked to move around the campus to try a wide variety of activities. These activities included a dunking booth, soccer shootout, corn hole challenge, pickle ball party, and quiz bowl.
There were over 20 different stations for the students to enjoy.
Naimah Saccoh said that the most unique thing she got to experience on Senior Unity Day was “being able to make a penalty kick, a field goal, and a half court shot all within a few minutes because it’s something that you don’t get to do everyday.”
Mitchell Gier said his most unique experience was that “I got to dunk three of my teachers — something I probably will never get to do again. . . Senior Unity Day is not just about bonding with your classmates, it is about taking a day to relax and have fun.”
At the end of each successful task, students took selfies to upload to the Goose Chase app. Those photos were shown to the entire senior class later in the day.
After moving through the Goose Chase activities, the group gathered on the football field for the traditional ‘24 class photograph. Seniors then enjoyed lunch outside before moving back into the building for a service project followed by a closing prayer service.
Ginger Roarty commented, “It was a very special day for me because of my family connections to the school. Watching my cousins experience this fun tradition caught my eye and made me very excited to share this day with my classmates. I loved how it was just fun competitiveness, not putting each other down to get to the next station. I think we all had a great time celebrating us and hitting this milestone.”
