Scott Roman Seguro Mescudi. Age: 26. Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio. Profession: rapper.
Recognize this rapper? You probably know him better for his stage name KiD CuDi.
Cudi began his rap career at the age of 19 in 2003 and dropped his first mix tape “A Kid Named Cudi” five years later in 2008, which featured his most famous hit “Day ‘n’ Nite.” The song also was on his studio album “Man on the Moon: The End of the Day,” which was a chart topper.
Cudi dropped his sophomore album “Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager” on Nov. 9.
Cudi has always been known for his neo-psychedelia beats, but with this album he branches over into some alternative rock as well in his song “Erase Me” featuring the infamous Kanye West.
Cudi didn’t just include tracks that you can space out to, but music that you can dance to. “We Aite” is a song that not only has funny lyrics, but a beat that will make you want to, in the words of Lady Gaga, just dance.
One of my favorite songs on Cudi’s news album is “REVOFEV” which is an acronym for “Revolution of Evolution.” Not only does the song have a catchy beat, but the lyrics have a good message to them.
In the song Cudi says, “Let go life does get tough, no need to stress, hold you back too much, let’s go I heard they found a solution, where they’ll you be for the revolution.” When and if you listen to Cudi’s music, you should listen to what he has to say.
I wasn’t a fan of every song on the Cudi album, but I would like to applaud Mr. Mescudi on giving hip-hop and rap a different name.
He gets away from lyrics that don’t make sense and the ones that have no meaning to them. Don’t get me wrong, there are some things that Cudi says that only he will understand, but some of the lyrics are meaningful.
No matter what form Cudi brings it in, it’s something fresh and clever.
