Week in Sports: Week of April 10
Softball — Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
Heading into the break, the softball team had been undefeated, but a tough in-conference loss set the team back. On Monday, April 10, the team defeated Catholic High at home, winning with a score of 13-3. Their first in-conference loss of the season came from their away game against Mount de Sales on Wednesday, April 12, with a close score of 2-3. Playing back-to-back games, the team turned around to play Dulaney High School at home on Thursday, April 13, but lost with a final score of 4-5.
Women’s Lacrosse — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
The women’s lacrosse team had a packed schedule with three games. They first traveled to Mount de Sales on Monday, April 10, and won with a score of 16-10. Also playing back-to-back, they faced Garrison Forest at home the next day, and lost with a score of 13-18. They ended the week facing Bel Air High School on their home turf on Thursday, April 13, and lost with a score of 9-12.
Badminton — Tuesday, Wednesday
The badminton team hosted two home matches last week.. On Tuesday, April 11, the team faced St. Timothy’s and won decisively, 6-1. They solidified the week with a win over Oldfields on Wednesday, April 12, with a score of 5-2.
Women’s Outdoor Track and Field — Wednesday
The women’s outdoor track and field team traveled to McDonough to face off against Archbishop Spalding and McDonough. While the meet was not scored, several runners and field athletes had season bests or broke their personal records. Two performances of the day included senior Taylor Brewer with four season bests in the long jump, triple jump, high hurdles, and 400 meter dash and the 100 meter relay team of juniors Ashlee Kothenbeutel, Chika Chuku, Lily Derickson, and sophomore Holly Dixon.
Baseball — Tuesday, Saturday
The baseball team participated in a tournament this week, but first had to play on Tuesday, April 11 against St. Paul’s at home. They defeated St. Paul’s with a score of 8-0. In the Bel Air Tournament on Saturday, April 15, the team faced Bel Air and C. Milton Wright. They managed to beat Bel Air, 7-3, but lost to C. Milton Wright with a score of 9-12.
Men’s Lacrosse – Tuesday
The men’s lacrosse team had a light schedule this week with only one game. They faced A-conference opponent Gilman at home and lost with a score of 7-8.
Men’s Tennis – Tuesday
The men’s tennis team had their second away match at St. Mary’s High School. The team lost the match with a score of 0-5.
Men’s Outdoor Track and Field – Tuesday
The men’s outdoor track and field team hosted a MIAA meet on Tuesday, April 11, and had a handful of personal records and season bests. Although the meet was not scored, several people qualified for the MIAA A Conference Championship later in the season. Field event qualifiers included juniors Jared Vogel and Kyle Wedemeyer for pole vault, sophomores Darius Lloyd and Davon Bomar for discus, senior Avery Jones for triple jump, and senior Niko Rice for high jump. Also, several sprinters qualified, including freshman Malik Scott and Jones for the 200 meter and Rice, sophomores Ayo Bodison and Chimzi Chuku, and Scott for the 100 meter.
Golf – Wednesday
On Wednesday, April 12, the golf team traveled to St. Peter and Paul and lost with a final score of 5-16.
