The Commissioner’s Cup: Women’s Volleyball
The women’s varsity volleyball team defeated Bel Air 3-1. JC’s serving and receiving were key to winning the match. Juniors Kirstin Huggins and Katie Scheidhauer had numerous blocks. The short game was full of tips and pushes that caught Bel Air off guard. “We played scrappy, but we still won,” senior libero Isabel Marhoun said.

Women’s varsity volleyball finished off their season with a 3-0 loss to Notre Dame Preparatory School in the IAAM “A” Conference quarterfinals, ending their season with a record of 8-11. JV’s record was 2-16.
The team was lead by senior setter Teresa Langbein and senior libero Isabel Marhoun. “I would say our captains Teresa and Isabel were our season MVPs. Teresa’s sets helped us get a lot of kills and Isabel was amazing at passing,” junior middle blocker Katie Scheidhauer said.
Despite some tough losses, the team stuck together through it all. “We really worked as a team. When someone got down, we would help bring them back up. We had a great support system,” Scheidhauer said.
Varsity coach Greg Cullison already has his eyes set on next year. “We should be fairly competitive in the [IAAM] A Conference next year. We’ll lose six seniors, but we have a good corp of juniors and we expect some newcomers,” Cullison said.
