Review: Netflix keeps spirits up during trying times

Cameron Gibson, Staff Writer

With the world on lockdown and most people stuck at home, Netflix has seen a surge in viewership. It has even seen an increase of about 16 million new subscribers to its platform!

Netflix offers a wide variety of movies and shows from comedies to drama, it has it all. One movie that I really enjoyed was The Irishman, a movie directed by Martin Scorsese and including actors such as Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. The movie is about a man who tells the story of his involvement with the mob in the 1960s. This movie was rated highly by many viewers and even had a score of 94 on Metacritic.com.

If you are not into this type of movie, that’s okay because Netflix offers more than this. If you like comedies, Netflix has numerous stand-up comedies and hilarious movies that will keep you entertained for hours.

My other recommendation is a movie that I was highly skeptical of at first but really enjoyed. It is called Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse. This is an animated movie that is great for all ages.

Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse follows the story of a teenager named Miles Morales from NYC. The movie’s animation is second to none and the movie tells a great story.

Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse was very well received by viewers and has a score of 87 on Metacritic.com. This a great movie to watch with younger siblings or even the whole family.

No matter what you like, it is almost guaranteed to be found on Netflix. During this time where you may be looking for something to keep you entertained, I highly recommend giving Netflix a try.
