Avoid watching ‘12 Dates of Christmas’ this holiday season

With an original release date in 2011, ‘12 Dates of Christmas’ has received lots of positive feedback.

However, contrary to popular opinion, this movie is one to avoid this Christmas. It is really hard to watch. Although the acting in the movie is not horrible, the plot itself is.
On Christmas Eve, Kate Stanton, played by Amy Smart, is set to go on a blind date. When she arrives at the date, she gets a call from her ex-boyfriend, played by Benjamin Ayres. What Kate hopes is a second chance to rekindle their relationship ends up being a total shutdown; her ex is proposing to his new girlfriend.
Kate goes to sleep worrying that she will be alone forever, only to wake up and realize she’s reliving the day all over again.
This continues on for 12 days, hence the title, 12 Dates of Christmas.
Not only is this basic same day repeating plot so overdone, it isn’t even executed well in this film. It is difficult to watch Kate go through the days and make worse mistakes every time she wakes up.
The point of the movie is that she eventually learns to be thankful and content with what she has, but that seems really rushed in the last day she relives.
There are some really obvious plot holes that can’t be explained in this movie Not only that, but the ending is extremely predictable (however, it is sweet.)
This romcom is available on Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+.
