The movie Halloween (1978) is a slasher/horror film created and directed by horror icon John Carpenter. The movie was released on October 24. 1978 and grossed $70 million when it was first released.

The plot follows protagonist Laurie Strode played by Jamie Lee Curtis in her debut film as a babysitter in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois. Her character is stalked by a serial killer by the name of Michael Myers, played by Nick Castle.

Earlier in the film, we learn that when Michael was six years old, he had stabbed his sister Judith to death and had been eventually committed to a mental institution for 15 years. He would have a psychiatrist named Dr. Loomis who was played by the late Donald Pleasence.

Eventually, Michael escapes from the institution and heads to his hometown Haddonfield where he eventually discovers Laurie and all of her friends who are also babysitters.
He stalks and eventually kills all of Laurie’s friends that night until he finds Laurie babysitting in a home.

He eventually fights and struggles with her in the house until Dr. Loomis shows up and shoots Michael several times until he falls off the balcony.

Dr. Loomis would check to see if Michael was on the ground, but there is nothing there as the movie ends with Laurie sobbing from the entire encounter, traumatized for life because of Michael.

Halloween is a must-see for any horror geeks such as myself.

It is a classic movie that every horror lover should see, and the movie itself even has developed its own franchise because of its popularity.
