January: Euphoria Season Two dropped on HBO Max. This drama-filled TV show averaged 16.3 million viewers for each episode of Season Two, which is an increase from their Season One average being only 6.6 million viewers per episode.

February: The Super Bowl was played at SoFi stadium. The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals at their home stadium in a 23-20 game. The halftime performance was one for the ages, which featured rappers Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, 50 cent, and Mary J. Blige.

March: During the 94th Academy Awards, actor Will Smith walked on stage and smacked comedian Chris Rock across the face after an inappropriate joke. This event took the internet by storm and led to Will Smith being barred from going to any Academy event for 10 years.

April: Sony’s Morbius was released April 1 and flopped in theaters. With Sony being one of the most successful cinematic universes ever, it is surprising that Morbius didn’t do better in theaters. The movie was good, but it only grossed $73 million in the U.S., which is a far feat from Marvel’s Endgame which grossed $728.4 million.

May: The smash hit sequel, Top Gun: Maverick debuted in theaters. As a continuation from the last Top Gun movie, Captain Pete Mitchell returns to Top Gun Academy to teach and prepare the best Navy aviators in the country to successfully pull off a seemingly impossible mission. Top Gun: Maverick is an amazing movie, and it broke records left and right. It was the sixth highest-grossing film in domestic box office history and spent four months in the box office Top 10. It became Tom Cruise’s highest-grossing film ever.

June: Star Wars returned with the Obi Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. This show was a hit among fans and received a rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. This series featured suspense-filled epic light saber battles between Obi Wan and his once apprentice, Anakin Skywalker.

July: Thor: Love and Thunder was released July 8. This wasn’t Marvel’s biggest grossing movie ever, but it was still a really funny movie which saw the return and leaving of Jane Foster from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and featured a feel-good ending which left Thor content with his new life. The movie grossed $343.2 million in the U.S. and was a hit among Marvel fans all over.

August: Bullet Train released August 5 and became a hit in the U.S., rising to the Number One spot in the box office for two weeks in a row and remained in the Top Five for seven weeks. The action-packed film features film star Brad Pitt, and the movie grossed $239.3 million worldwide.

September: The NASCAR cup playoffs began at Darlington Raceway in early September. The winner of the first race, the Cook Out Southern 500, was Erik Jones. There were four total races for the playoffs in the month of September.

October: Taylor Swift released her new album Midnights, smashing many music records in the process. Midnights was the most-streamed album in one day on Spotify, and it also achieved the largest streaming week for an album by a female artist, with 1.578 million album units being sold in the first week of the album’s release. This album has been a smash hit among music fans all over the country.

November: The Houston Astros defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in the World Series. The Astros beat the Phillies in a six-game series leading 4-2. This World Series win for the Astros is a relief after last year’s loss in the World Series to the Atlanta Braves.

December: Avatar 2: The Way of Water was released today. This sequel to the smash hit Avatar needs to make over $2 billion in order to make a profit based upon how expensive the movie was to produce.
