In a year full of lasts, the class of 2024 has embarked upon their final Christmas season at John Carroll.
The Christmas season is a very magical time for the JC community. The halls are covered in lights; classroom doors are decorated, and trees have been put up around the building.
Events such as the Festival of Lights, the Nutcracker performance, the Christmas concert, and Ugly Sweater Day make this time of year special.
The senior class is in their final Christmas season as Patriots. In this bittersweet season, seniors reflected on their favorite high school Christmas memories as well as what their holiday seasons will look like in college.
Senior Tori Young’s favorite JC Christmas memory is dancing in the Nutcracker each year. She specifically recalled a moment “interviewing Mr. Gadbois with one of my friends last year for the Nutcracker.”
Tori said, “I think most of all I am going to miss walking through the halls with all the lights and decorations that make everything feel so cozy.”
Senior Jill Bruggeman said, “I will miss all of the holiday spirit around JC and all the lights in the hallways.”
Jill’s favorite JC Christmas memory is “when we all watched the holiday performance arts celebration in the auditorium.”
Senior Alex Holschuh is also going to miss the Christmas season at JC. Alex said, “I will miss decorating for the door decorating contest with Mr. Mellady’s advisory.”
Next year, most of the class of 2024 will have moved onto college and will come home over Christmas break to visit their friends and families.
Alex said that next year he will be “hopefully coming home from college and being able to see friends and family throughout my time home.”
Tori said, “Next year, I will definitely be coming home to visit my friends and family and enjoy my time with them.”
This final holiday season at home with their families and in school at John Carroll will create lots of magical and memorable moments for the Class of 2024 to take with them to college.
Assistant Principal Jake Hollin said, “We would love to have JC seniors return next year to visit either the Festival of Lights or the Jingle Mingle for College Age Alums that just started this year which would give them a chance to reconnect after their first semester and also enjoy our annual Christmas program.”
