Sophomore Joshua Robinson performs a song on stage as Shrek with Senior Zachary Miller as Donkey in “Shrek The Musical” on Friday, March 17. The Theatre Department put on four performances of “Shrek The Musical” on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, along with matinees throughout the week.

Snow Days

This week, there were two snow days and a two-hour delay on Thursday. On Monday night, the snow started falling and the campus was cleared by 8:00 p.m. The snow continued to fall and caused classes to be cancelled on Tuesday. Classes were also cancelled on Wednesday because of the cold temperatures. The possibly dangerous conditions meant school would start at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Spring Musical

The theater department presented their spring production, “Shrek The Musical”, this weekend. Students and adult members of the JC community joined together in the cast, production staff, crew, and pit orchestra to put on the show. They opened on Friday at 7:00 p.m., had two shows on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and closed on Sunday with a show at 2:00 p.m. The theater department also performed a preview for the JC community and two matinees for students from other schools to enjoy on Thursday and Friday.

The students involved in the show, including pit orchestra member Ally Whitehead, like coming together to be in the plays. “I really enjoyed being in pit and there were so many fun experiences,” Whitehead said.

Dress Down Day

On Friday, March 17, students had the opportunity to participate in a dress down day for five dollars. This dress down day took place to raise funds to regain lost revenue from the cancelled “Shrek The Musical” matinee which was scheduled on one of the snow days. Students were asked to wear green to show their support for the ogres and for the show.
