The cast and crew of “Shrek the Musical” pose with their six trophies at the Baltimore Theatre Awards on Sunday, April 30. The Theatre Department received several awards including Best Musical, Best Ensemble, Best Student Orchestra, and Best Stage Crew. Also, sophomore Rachel Miller won Best Leading Actress and senior Zachary Miller won Best Supporting Actor.

JCS Theatre Awards and Baltimore Theatre Awards

On Sunday, April 30 the annual JCS Theatre Awards were held. Students involved in the fall and spring musicals were invited to attend. They gathered for dinner which was followed by awards. It was also announced that the shows for the 2017-18 school year are “Greaseand “Tarzan”.

Later that day, the cast and crew of “Shrek the Musical” attended the Baltimore Theatre Awards. The Theatre Department was awarded six different trophies including Best Musical, Best Ensemble, Best Student Orchestra, and Best Stage Crew. Individual students were also recognized for their performance in the show including sophomore Rachel Miller, who won Best Leading Actress and senior Zachary Miller, who won Best Supporting Actor.  

Acting Class Play

Director of Performing Arts Kimberly Brueggemann’s acting class performed their show on Monday, May 1. They presented it at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The students worked every class this semester to produce the show.

Class of 2018 Senior Pictures Meeting

The class of 2018 met in the auditorium for a meeting with Lifetouch on Friday, May 5. Friday was a D-day so the meeting began at 8 a.m. Students were given information on their senior pictures. The students have an option of taking their pictures on May 16, or on one of two make-up days. Members of the class of 2018, including junior Reece Falter, are almost done their junior year. “I can’t believe we are almost seniors. High school has gone by so fast,” Falter said.
