The Patriot CAN DO Food Drive began on Monday, Nov. 6 and ended Friday, Nov. 17. Students were encouraged to bring in cans as well as non-perishable items and drop them off in Room 208 before mod one. The donations will be given to Manna House and St. Francis de Sales Church. In addition, there was a competition between advisories and grade levels to raise the most cans. Advisories that obtained over 100 items receive a certificate and the winner receives a Chick-Fil-A breakfast. The grade level that collected the most cans will receive a day to wear their class color as well.

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the Romero Service Club had a fundraiser to support Health and Housing. Students could pay two dollars to receive a wristband allowing them to dress down for the day.

Welcome Wednesday

On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Welcome Wednesday was held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Brown Room. Welcome Wednesdays allow prospective families to learn more about the school, giving them an in-depth look at the community and academics.

Honors Dress Down Day

On Thursday, Nov. 9, all students who received first or second honors for the first quarter had the opportunity to dress down. The students were required to wear a sticker that said “Honor Student.” The sticker, along with a certificate and a Chick-Fil-A sandwich, was given during a short reception on Tuesday, Nov. 7 for juniors and seniors, and Wednesday, Nov. 8 for freshmen and sophomores. “I feel like we deserved it because we worked hard. It was so much fun and we should do it more often,” freshman Alyssa Qian said.

Variety Show Rehearsals

The seniors rehearsed for the upcoming Senior Variety Show every day this week after school in the auditorium. The Variety Show is a tradition including various skits and talent performances. Showtimes are Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. “Rehearsals have been long and hard. We need to keep practicing and rehearsing so the skits will be as funny and effortless as possible,” senior Katie Mills said.
