With a class of 198 members, the sophomores processed into the Upper Gym on the evening of February 1 to get their pins in front of a room filled with friends and family.
The Class of 2026 is now the second class in John Carroll history to participate in a pinning ceremony.
After all sophomores were seated, Class President Maureen McMennamin greeted the crowd and led everyone in the opening prayer. This was followed by other members of the class council who spoke and reflected on the Patriot Mission.
Under the direction of Director of Performing Arts Julie Parrish, Music Ministry sophomores performed “The Sanctuary.”
The Keynote Speaker of the evening was Elizabeth Earnshaw, the Recipient of the 2023 Young Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award. Ms. Earnshaw, a member of JC’s graduating class of 2004, spoke to the sophomores about service and its importance.
Before the students were called on stage, Class Co-Moderator Lindsey Galicki shared words about why sophomores get pins, and Deacon Ken Goedeke offered a blessing over the pins.
As Class Co-Moderator Kristen Kirkpatrick read the individual names, sophomores received their pins from Principal Carl Patton and Assistant Principals Danica Attanasio and Jake Hollin. Sophomores were encouraged to wear their pins on their uniforms.
A reception followed the ceremony.
