As the Class of 2025 closed out their last year at John Carroll, they left behind the friends who accompanied them, the teachers who guided them, and, for some, the siblings who grew up with them.
Whether the younger siblings of the seniors are freshmen or juniors, they will miss having their older brothers and sisters with them in the building.
Sophomore Alyssa Sturm, younger sister of senior Aiden Sturm, said she will miss helping him with his homework and having him using her lunch card.
Aiden will be attending West Virginia University in the fall, and Alyssa is very proud of him for “picking a well-rounded school.”
Alyssa said, “I look up to how fun and entertaining Aidan is to be around. I wish I had the energy and social skills he has. I also look up to his taste in cars.”
Some siblings have been going to school together since elementary and middle school, making this separation a harder one.
An example of this is sophomore Molly Biscoe and senior Addison Biscoe. Molly remembers how they would have field days and school dances together when they were younger.
Now, Molly will miss getting food and playing sports with her sister.
Molly said, “I’ll always know her as my big sister and look up to her even when she is 61 miles away from me at college, where she will be living her best life, and I’m still going to be needing her.”
Freshman Collin Wassin and his older sister senior Maddie Wassin ran track together for the first time this year, enjoying car rides and practices together. Collin said he is most proud of his sister for going to a D1 school for track, even though she started the sport in high school.
Sophomore Jocelyn Winter and senior Joey Winter just ended their last year of going to school together. Jocelyn remembered when they had an off mod together and will miss hanging out in the car before school. She looks up to him for his resilience.
This bittersweet parting brings an important part of these students’ lives to a close.
However, this also brings exciting beginnings of growing up and maturing.
