FALL SPORTS: WE LIKE THAT fall sports are up and running. With fall sports being back, this brings the John Carroll community together. For a lot of the games, there are themes, and the themes are for different sports — not just for one. However, the biggest game is the Homecoming football game coming up at the end of next week. Fall athletes work so hard all summer to prepare for their seasons; getting to play in front of your community is rewarding, and you get to play your sport knowing you have support on and off the field. Fall sports kick everything off and bring a lot of people out of their comfort zone.
FRESHMAN ORIENTATION: WE LIKE THAT the freshmen continue to have special orientation days. This allows them to get into the flow of high school, see where all their classes are, and meet all their teachers without the sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the building. This is their time to learn about what being a Patriot means at John Carroll. This is special because not a lot of other schools do this, and it is a great way to bring new students into the JC community. We have been grateful to experience this so that we were not overwhelmed when every student was in the building.
CLASS TOGETHERNESS: WE LIKE THAT classes have opportunities to show their class and school spirit. For example, earlier this week, the Class of 2024 had their Senior Unity Day. During this time, they were able to gather together to play games, enjoy each other’s company, and complete a service project. Additionally, the freshman class had the chance to visit the Baltimore Basilica as they got to tour and celebrate Mass.
YELLOW RIBBONS: WE LIKE THAT everyone wore a yellow ribbon at the Opening Mass. On Tuesday, September 13, the John Carroll community showed their loving support towards many individuals who have been impacted by childhood cancer. Students, teachers, and faculty each wore a yellow ribbon to show their support. In the days following the Mass, several students continued to wear the ribbon on their regular uniform.
