HOMECOMING DJ: WE LIKE the music and lights that we had at Homecoming. This year for Homecoming the SGA decided to get a new DJ after a few complaints from years prior. They hired the DJ company they used from last year’s Ring Dance, which last year’s juniors had suggested. At the dance, the DJ played at least one song everyone knew, and the DJ also brought lights and a stage, making the dance very fun.
DRESS DOWN THEMES: WE LIKE HOW this year’s dress-down themes were creative and new, while also having the classic ones mixed in. This year for Spirit Week, the themes were Class Color, Country vs. Country Club, Holiday, Age, and Black and Gold Day. For most of the themes, each age had an assigned theme, so you could tell which grade everyone was in. These themes also gave everyone the chance to do many different things, and it really made Spirit Week fun.
ORIOLES CELEBRATION: WE LIKE THAT the JC community celebrated the Orioles making it to the playoffs. In commemoration of the Baltimore Orioles reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2016, there was a dress-down day and picnic on Friday, October 6. During the partial dress-down day, students could wear Orioles shirts and jerseys over top of their uniforms. There was a picnic in the courtyard during both lunch mods where free popcorn and pretzels were handed out. In addition, there were decorations, and games set up outside.
POWER OF EXPRESSION CELEBRATION: WE LIKE THAT students had the opportunity to attend the Power of Expression assembly. This assembly was hosted by JC alum Jordan Lally and his band Big Infinite. They combined the importance of the awareness of mental health struggles with music. The members of the band were very open about what they had been through and wanted to let students know that they were not alone.
