PENNY WARS: WE LIKE THAT Penny Wars were a new addition to Catholic Schools Week. It was nice to know that class members decorated their containers for the pennies. We enjoyed bringing in the pennies to fill the containers and having a fun week-long activity with our classes while supporting our Campus Ministry Program. The sophomores ultimately got cookies for winning the Penny Drive. Overall, it was a nice competition through the week.
PURPLE FRIDAY: WE LIKE HOW on the Friday before the Ravens played the Chiefs in the playoff game, we had a Purple Friday. It united fans and members of our school to support a team that many of us love. It was also a great way to show how our school can come together to support a common cause. We also like that there were some Ravens-related activities during the day like guessing the number of purple Hershey Kisses, getting purple candy as we arrived to school in the morning, and taking photos in front of a football backdrop.
SEMESTER EXTENSION: WE LIKE THAT we got an extra day added into Semester One due to the snow day on the originally-schedule final day. This gave students the chance to turn in some more things that they could have missed, providing some additional time for students to get their grades up. It also gave teachers some time to finish grading everything. On the extra day, being able to go to all of our classes was a nice bonus as we ran through all of the mod 1 classes on our schedules.
VALENTINE’S DAY GRAMS: WE LIKE THAT our school has various “grams” throughout the year to celebrate different occasions. Valentine’s Day grams will be passed out in Advisory tomorrow morning, extending our Valentine’s Day holiday by an extra day. The grams provide a great way to show our love to our friends and romantic partners. It’s also a great way for groups to raise money. We appreciate that our parents were also given an opportunity to buy the grams online so they would be delivered to us this week.
