WE LIKE HOW John Carroll is officially a Green School. On Earth Day JC was officially recognized as a Maryland Green School. This award is given to schools who show strong school-wide dedication, including staff, students, and other community members, to environmental education. This award makes the school a part of a national and international effort to work towards a more sustainable future.
WE LIKE THAT baseball games can be played under the lights. They are now fully installed, and John Carroll baseball has had games at 6:30 pm illuminated under the lights. Not only are the lights a good way to have later games, but there are also colorful features that light up in between innings and home runs. The energy is always high at these games as higher attendance is possible because practices are over before the start games. Under the lights, the team broke the single season record for home runs, and the lights added a fun and exciting aspect to this milestone.
WE LIKE THAT seniors did not have to go to classes on their very last day in the building. Instead, they had a morning of activities and fun which ended with the seniors walking out of the building together. We also liked how teachers were able to join the seniors for breakfast and to be there to sign yearbooks, take photos, and say some goodbyes. We hope that this becomes a tradition for future senior classes as this day is a positive and enjoyable way to bond one last time with classmates.
WE LIKE THAT the girls lacrosse team advanced to the playoffs. Their hard work and dedication paid off as they ranked sixth in the regular season play. The team had a major upset that helped them against Spalding earlier in the season, and they worked extremely hard to get into the playoffs. The girls have devoted their time, even early on Sundays, to practicing to reach their goal and even achieve more. We are extremely excited and proud of our team for making it that far and pushing themselves to levels they didn’t know they could achieve.
