Week in Sports: Week of Feb. 6

Freshman CJ Polesovksy prepares to take down a Mount Saint Joseph wrestler at the beginning of his match. The wrestling team competed in the MIAA Championships on Saturday, Feb. 10, and came in eighth place out of 17 teams.

Women’s Basketball – Wednesday

The women’s basketball team had only one game scheduled last week at home on Wednesday, Feb. 9. The team lost to Seton Keough High School by a score of 45-61.

Men’s Basketball – Monday, Wednesday, Friday

The men’s basketball team took all three of their games in stride this week, coming away with three big wins. On Monday, Feb. 6, the team beat Gilman School at home, 74-63. The team  then traveled to Boys’ Latin School to face the Lakers, coming away with a three-point win, 62-59. In the biggest rivalry rematch of the season, the team went to Calvert Hall and defeated “The Hall,” 53-48.

Men’s Swimming – Wednesday

The men’s swimming team competed in the MIAA Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Calvert Hall. Despite coming in eighth place out of nine teams, head coach Larry Dukes said, “The team did very well with almost every swimmer doing a personal best. We were very young and should improve with experience and newcomers.” The team had a final total of 136 points, beating out Annapolis Area Christian School by 22 points.

Wrestling – Saturday

The men’s wrestling team competed in the MIAA Championships this weekend on Saturday, Feb. 11. The team came in eighth place out of 17 teams, picking up a total of 79 points.
